Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named Chief Correspondent to Congress. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. She was on the panel during 1988's presidential debates, that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively with President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
